People were happy and things always went well. Crops grew and were turned over, well almost always. There once was a baby, an only son. He was the last of a generation of settlers that crossed a new vast and unforgiving land and pounded out a life from the dirt beneath their feet. He lived his life carefree, a spoiled young man- yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah…he enjoyed daily cappuccinos, hot stone massages, jeopardy and Armani sunglasses while most of the other children in town played scrabble and monopoly. He was raised in a quiet colonial village where his family was glorified. They owned the elevators, the mills, the banks and governed the schools. A golden only-son from birth, he became the town peoples’ living hopes and dreams. He could do no wrong and if he did wrong, people pretended that they just didn’t see.
